Indore Chapter of Indian Geotechincal Society started awarding brilliant students in1993-94. Since 1996, the cash award was converted to a Gold Medal and a certificate of appreciation. Since 2001 an award has also been started for the student of BE (Civil) Part Time Degree Course for securing highest marks in the Geotechnical Engineering subjects. the various sponsors of these awards are: M/s. Ferro Concrete Cons. (I) Pvt.Ltd., Indore. This award carried prize with a certificate of appreciation for the student of ME (Civil) securing highest Marks in Foundation Engg. Subject. M/s Vastushilp Consultancy, Indore instituted an award for Under Graduate student securing highest Marks in Geotechnical Engg. Subject. Prof. A.N. Patel, former Prof. & Head CE & AMD, SGSITS, Indore. came forward and instituted one Gold Medal for the topper of Shri Narendra Singhalji of M/s Malwa Pipe Foudnation Co. Indore came forward and instituted one Gold Medal for the topper of BE (Civil) PTDC at SGSITS.
